ThunderCat Technology Announces Data Center Consolidation Practice Led by Co-Founder Dan Duenkel

Partners With GSA Mentor To Guide Agencies Through FDCCI

Reston, Va. June 3, 2011 – ThunderCat Technology has partnered with GSA Mentor, Knight Point Systems to create a specific methodology and process along with world class tools to guide Federal Agencies through their entire Data Center Consolidation Initiative efforts (FDCCI) from beginning to end. KPS handles IT services and assessments with certified best practices. ThunderCat handles all procurement, software, hardware, and facilities.

At the center of the approach is Knight Point Systems’ Hercules. It is a proprietary asset management, mapping, and optimization tool developed specifically for DCCI. Hercules acts a central repository for IT asset attributes; tracks and helps manage changes in the IT infrastructure; maps complex physical and logical relationships among assets, applications, people, and facility data.

Hercules provides a single, easy-to-use application to manage all data center assets. This allows faster and complete infrastructure assessments; increased infrastructure visibility; simplified change management; quick compliance: It has specific structured DCCI Reporting Deliverables to allow agencies to quickly and easily meet all OMB reporting requirements.

Hercules also helps enable Active Asset Management which results in seamless and transparent management of the data center, providing clients with a clear line of sight into IT infrastructure. It allows agencies to readily identify and capitalize upon opportunities to improve their IT infrastructure. Active Asset Management also ensures and enforces effective change management procedures, simplifying the often complicated task of inventory management.

Dan Duenkel, Director of Technology, stated “We have already built up extensive experience and past performance in this area. The formal FDCCI mandate has simply accelerated what many of our agency clients have already been doing with us. We are excited to share our expertise with others just starting now or moving quickly and more formally toward OMB compliance.”

Additionally, ThunderCat Technology has added an FDCCI resources page to the website complete with history and overview of FDCCI, whitepapers, FAQs, official announcements, templates, and updates from Vivek Kundra, Richard Spires, and the Chief Information Officer Council. It also contains a library of recent surveys, reports, as well as a wide range of trade journal articles on the topic. https://www.thundercattech.com/solutions/fdcci.html
