New Online Community FDCCI Connect Provides Single Gathering Place for All Involved in Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative

Industry Leaders including NetApp, ThunderCat, Knight Point and Others Support the Effort

Reston, Va. February 08, 2012 – FDCCIConnect.com recently launched as the first comprehensive online resource created to help agencies find easier, better and faster ways of accomplishing the six phases of the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative (FDCCI) mandate. The FDCCI Connect Community was developed by industry leaders such as NetApp, RiverBed, ThunderCat and Knight Point who have had proven success in data center consolidation implementations for government agencies and recognized the need for a comprehensive online community that would assist agency personnel responsible for meeting this complex mandate.

This one-of-a-kind resource is unique in that it offers a wide variety of materials categorized according to the US Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) phased approach to data center consolidation. No matter where an agency is in the process, the FDCCI Connect Community helps agencies assess their progress and offers easy-to-find solutions to data center consolidation challenges most common to agencies large and small. On FDCCIConnect.com, agency personnel will find the latest government and industry information and tools such as white papers, executive memos and guidelines, surveys, articles and more.

Keith McMeans, ThunderCat Technology’s Co-Founder and General Manager said about the site, “We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in a community that will soon become the government’s one-stop site for data center consolidation resources. Our goal is to support agencies in the mission and to provide them with the most relevant tools that industry and government has to offer.”

At the center of the site’s interactive approach is a free online self-assessment tool designed to help agencies identify where they stand today in their efforts to comply with FDCCI. Developed using data from federal agencies that have overcome the challenges unique to each phase, the tool will assess and compare where an agency currently is in the 6-phase process to where it should be.

Also using data pooled from real federal agency case studies, the Lessons Learned section of the site offers insight to help organizations avoid common mistakes and pitfalls. Based on real world experiences, this section provides easy-to-implement ideas that worked for a variety of federal agencies.

Today, the unique FDCCI Connect Community is the single most comprehensive source for FDCCI information. It will be constantly updated with the latest news articles, blogs, insider tips, and government announcements.
